Besides video uploading, there are means to embed your video content.

What’s the difference and why all the users do not use this option if it's so cool?

First of all, when you upload videos to the Gurucan platform, they are protected and can’t be downloaded. My colleague Iliya wrote about it in the article.

But there are cases when uploading videos using links can be convenient enough. And it is. But anywhere without potholes. And you get the idea I suppose.

Of course, such links are not completely protected. And some cunning dude сan steal your videos somehow. I won’t do a disservice by the description of these methods, so, let’s move on.

I propose to discuss the following

  • Where such links can be used

  • How to set them up

  • Are private settings really private?

  • How do your students see such videos?

1. Where such links can be used

  • course lessons

  • challenge lessons

  • meal plans while creating recipes

  • articles

2. How to set everything up

2.1 Vimeo

You need to add a Vimeo video to your lesson.

STEP 1 Add content

STEP 2 Select Vimeo

STEP 3 Set up settings in Vimeo

  1. Private - your video won't be displayed both - in a web browser and in the app

2. Password - the most secure setting

Users who you didn't share it with see the following

3. Hide from Vimeo - your video will be displayed both - in a web browser and in the app

4. Only me - videos are unavailable

5. Public - your video will be displayed both - in a web browser and in the app

6. Specific domains - videos are unavailable

STEP 4 Copy the link

Add the link

Also, you can use a code to embed the Vimeo video to the Html block.

But note that this video won't be displayed in the app. You can upvote for this feature

2.2 Wistia

STEPS 1 and 2 are the same besides Wistia selecting

STEP 3 Private settings

Activate privacy mode in the Account section

STEP 4 Copy the link

Here it's this tiny piece

2.2 YouTube

STEPS 1 and 2 are the same as usual

Move on to the channel settings and select Manage videos

To visibility then

If you select a private mode, your students can't watch it at all

So, you select Unlisted

One more cool option is Embedding - you can disable it in this way

3. How do your students see such videos?

For example, Vimeo. Browser version

App version

YouTube. Browser version

App version

Well, we discussed everything it seems. Note that this way of embedding videos isn't secure enough. We propose to upload videos directly to Gurucan.
